History of the Club

The great history of Kryvyi Rih football begins on April 18, 1959.

1959

Kryvyi Rih city team

It was on this day that a football team was created on the basis of the "Hirnyk" sports club, which received the name "Kryvyi Rih City Team".

1960

Avanhard

For 9 years, the people of Kryvyi Rih played in the "B" division and changed their name several times.

"Avangard" became "Hirnyk" in 1962.

1962

Hirnyk

The club played under this name for three seasons, and in 1966 changed it to the familiar name - "Kryvbas".

1966

Kryvbas

Since 1968, the club has been playing in the "A" class, and later in the Second League, which "Kryvbas" won in 1971.

1971

Champions of the Ukrainian SSR

During its history, the club was the champion of the Ukrainian SSR four times: in 71, 75, 76, and 81. In those days, "Kryvbas" was one of the strongest teams in Ukraine.

1992

Champions of the First League

The club's performances in the championship during the time of Ukraine's independence began with victories. "Kryvbas" became the champion of the First League and rose to the High Division.

1999

Bronze medalists

Already in seven years, "Kryvbas" under the leadership of Oleg Taran becomes the bronze medalist of the championship of Ukraine.

1999

UEFA Cup

Such success allows Kryvbas to debut in the UEFA Cup. Meetings with the italian "Parma", in which the legendary Buffon, Baggio, Crespo, Cannavaro and Thuram played, will forever be remembered by Kryvyi Rih fans.

2000

Finalists of the Cup of Ukraine

"Kryvbas" repeats and multiplies success. In addition to bronze and European cups, the club becomes a finalist of the Cup of Ukraine.

2013

Bankruptcy

The most difficult year for Kryvyi Rih football. "Kryvbas" loses funding, which is why the bankruptcy procedure begins. The club does not receive a certificate for participation in the Premier League for the 2013/14 season and ceases its activities. 

2015

Kryvbas should be

Thanks to the club's fans and activists, the public organization "Kryvbas should be" appears, which has preserved the name and symbols of the club. "Kryvbas" plays among amateurs and, it seems, this black streak is for a long time.

2020

A new story

But as you know, a black stripe is always followed by a white one, and a red stripe is always followed by a white one. In 2020, the Kryvorizhye football community united, and a new club was created on the initiative of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, on the basis of FC "Girnyk", which existed independently for more than 10 years, developed its own Academy and built infrastructure. A club that honors the history of all Kryvyi Rih football.

August 20, 2020 a new history of red and white begins. The new history of Kryvyi Rih football. New history of the Club with a Big Name. Two years after the revival of FC "Kryvbas" has already achieved certain successes. In 2021, Kryvbas will enter the First League.

In 2022, the red and whites take 2nd place in the First League and advance to the UPL, the elite of Ukrainian football. But who knows, if it were not for the military aggression of the Russian occupiers, perhaps "Kryvbas" would have become the champion of the First League. 

The red-whites started the 2022/23 season in the Ukrainian Premier League. On August 23, 2022, 30 years after the first match in the UPL in 1992, "Kryvbas" is again holding its debut match in the elite. History repeats itself. In the match of the 1st round, our team, unfortunately, lost to "Colossus" of Kovaliv on the road - 0:1. Before the start of the historic season, the red and whites were led by the authoritative Ukrainian specialist Yurii Vernydub, who in the first days after the start of the full-scale invasion of the country by 404 returned home from Moldova, where he worked as the head coach of Sherif, and stood up for Ukraine. After a not-so-successful start, the team from Kryvyi Rih played a strong second part of the championship, fought to the last for European cups and finished their debut season in 7th place.

"Kryvbas" spent the 2023/24 season very powerfully. The team entered the winter break in the championship at the top of the table. In the second round, the red and whites also claimed the championship, but in the end they came to the finish line on the third step. "Kryvbas" won bronze medals, repeating the achievements of Kryvyi Rih football in 1999 and 2000.
