Andriy Golub: In the new season, they are determined to fight for DUFLU medals

Senior coach of Kryvyi Rih FA "Kryvbas" U-16 Andriy Golub summed up the results of the 2023/24 season in an interview with club journalists.

- To Andrii Oleksandrovych, the red and white finished the season in 1/4finals of the DUFLU Championship. Share your overall impressions of the season.

- DUFLOU quarter-final is a good result. We are happy with it. Worked a lot to achieve success, had many different moments, but overall I'm happy with how the team performed. In the quarter-finals of the championship, we faced a strong opponent - Dynamo Kyiv. Playing with such opponents is always interesting, even such matches show what we still need to work on. We really made a lot of mistakes playing with this team, but that's okay - I'm sure the experience we gained will only benefit us.

- Tell us about the best and worst match of the 2023/24 season.

- Probably the easiest match is against the team "Rotanya and Zozuli", because the opponent did not come to Kryvyi Rih and they were awarded a technical defeat (smiles). And seriously, the best match was probably the return match of the round of 16 against DYFC Chornomorets. We lost the first match to them 0:1, and in the second we convincingly took revenge 5:0. It was the best game of our team, in terms of the result, in terms of the game. And the worst match was against Dynamo. It was very difficult for us, we missed many mistakes. And this opponent did not give us a chance to correct them. 

- What tasks do you set for yourself and the players for the new season?

- I always set maximum tasks before myself. As for the players, first of all, I will note that this will be a senior year for the team and I hope that they will get their chance in professional football and continue on their path. I want the boys' eyes to light up at every training session and game, so that they constantly give 200%.  I am sure that all the dreams of young football players will come true. As far as the season is concerned, only the maximum tasks are to leave the group, get to the final part, and we really want to fight for at least medals. 

- "Kryvbas" Academy is the best Academy in Ukraine. What are the main factors in this in your opinion?

- First of all, we have very qualified trainers at the Academy. We are constantly developing, reading sports literature and doing everything to become better. Secondly, these are the conditions we have. The conditions we have thanks to the president of the Club, Kostyantyn Karamants, are at the highest level. Our main team "Kryvbas" is already in the European Cups and for young football players it is an incentive and motivation to come to us and work. Who knows, maybe one of them will work under the leadership of Yuriy Vernydub in the future.
