Anna Stekholshchikova: I get pleasure from football first and foremost

In the next edition of our video column #EPYTANNYA on the club's YouTube channel, in which football players of FC "Kryvbas" answer the questions of fans from social networks, our guest was the captain of the Club's women's team, experienced midfielder Anna Stekholshchikova.

- How do you feel about being the most experienced player in Kryvbas, and are there any problems understanding each other?

- Actually, you know, when you communicate mainly with young girls, you become younger yourself. However, I won't be deceitful, I'll say it straight - it's difficult. It's very difficult, because, firstly, the difference in mentality is very big. The younger generation is growing up on memes, slang, and I don't know all these new trendy words; for me, it's a bit far. I'm more old-fashioned, let's say.

- Do you remember your first game for Kryvbas? What memories do you have?

- Well, I probably do. I remember a lot from the first days, because it was new, different. There was a lot of attention from the media, and, yes, we played the first match in Nova Kakhovka against Voskhod. For me, it's almost my hometown, I'm from the Kherson region, from Kakhovka, my family came to the match, so it was a pleasure to play. Of course, I wanted a different result than we got then (1:1).

- Did you think about ending your career?

- I get pleasure from football first of all. Yes, not without injuries, not without some physical problems, but it's very useful for my mentality. As long as my health allows, as long as my mentality is ready for it, I'll torment you with my presence on the field (laughs).

- What advice would you give to beginning players?

- First of all, listen to the coach. Believe me, the coach will never give you bad advice. And secondly, listen to the girls who have a little experience.

- The match that was most memorable? What kind of game was it?

- The match against Shakhtar, when we were playing as a rejuvenated new team, and with the victory over them we won third place in the Ukrainian championship. At that time it was a very cool result, very cool emotions, the fans came. Well, in general, I have an appeal to the fans: if they watch it - we missed you.

- Spend the evening with friends or alone, what will you choose?

- If you have to choose, then probably still go somewhere, if you choose something specific. But it all depends on your mood.

- Is there anyone you look up to in football?

- I don't have idols. I am on my own. Look up to someone - you will never be like anyone, but you should always go where your heart calls you.

- What do you do in your free time from training?

- I work. I work very hard. I have a job in logistics, so it's either training or work.

- What do you want to achieve in football?

- Well, at the moment the best result for me would be if Kryvbas were somewhere in the top 5. I understand that these are very global tasks, because the team is very young, there is a lot to learn, but as long as I have strength, as long as I can give something to this team, I will give, I will try to achieve this result. I hope the girls will support me.
