Antoni Mascaro: Overall we played well and controlled the game at times

Comments after the match of the 24th round of the youth UPL 2025\2026 "Kryvbas" U-19 - "Ruh" U-19 0:3.

Antoni Mascaro, head coach of FC Kryvbas U-19:

- The opposing team looked better than us. But overall we played well and controlled the game at times. Two serious mistakes affected the result. They led 2:0, and after that it was difficult to fight back. But until these two moments we completely controlled the course of the match. But after them – the opponents were already noticeably better.

We had our own game plan. We wanted to wait a bit in the middle block. We were quite comfortable there. The opponents did not create chances for a long time, played with long diagonal passes. We controlled it well. Then our team planned to act on counterattacks, and had good opportunities for runs. We had three, four, five options to go on the attack, but we lacked the last pass, so it was difficult to finish the episode.

During the break we changed our tactics a bit. We released two strikers to try to play more straightforwardly: two on two against their central defenders. But, to be honest, it didn’t work. The plan failed, and I think it was my mistake. Maybe I’m just not ready to help this team, but we will continue to work hard and correct our mistakes.

Tymur Butenko, midfielder of FC Kryvbas U-19:

- A very difficult match. No emotions, because we lost. We need to analyze everything well and move on. After the first goal, the team faded a bit, but after the break they started playing actively. Unfortunately, we conceded twice quickly and after that the game broke down. It was difficult to change anything further.
