Daria Kolodiy: The debut for the national team of Ukraine was 100% successful, so I am very happy

Daria Kolodiy, the forward of Kryvyi Rih FC "Kryvbas" received her second call-up to the girls' national team of Ukraine WU-17. The day before yesterday, in the first match of the first round of qualifying for Euro 2025 (League B), the blue-yellow team defeated their peers from Moldova, and our Kolodiy scored a double - 5:0!

- Dar'ye, congratulations. You, along with other Kryvbas football players, received a call-up to the Ukrainian women's national team WU-17. Tell us about your first thoughts after learning about the challenge and comment on how everything is going.

- Of course, I was really looking forward to this moment, to be called to the girls' national team. After all, this is not just a training cycle, but a selection for Euro 2025, so I am very satisfied. Everything is going great, the girls and I are working hard to help the Ukrainian national team win.

- On November 13, you helped the national team defeat Moldova - 5:0. It was your official debut for the national team. What emotions?

- Emotions, of course, are very cool. I am very glad that I managed to score two goals for the national team. My debut was definitely successful, so I am very happy.

- In this game, you opened the scoring in the 63rd minute and later scored your second goal. How did you do it?

- I scored the first goal in the second half: Karina Lespuh got hold of the ball, turned the attack, gave a pass. I beat three opponents and scored in the near corner with my left foot. As for the second one, Milena Ivanchenko made a great pass, I beat two defenders, moved to the center and scored with my left foot - the ball bounced off the post into the goal.

- What is the atmosphere like in the national team? How do you support each other with the players of "Kryvbas"?

- The atmosphere in the national team is very cool. We support and help each other if something doesn't work out. We are one team.

- Remember where your football journey began, how old were you?

- It was in physical education class, I was 9 years old. Then I played with the boys, the coach saw me and invited me to football training. But at first I refused. Later I talked about it with my parents. The very next day, the coach called again, and again invited me to training, and then I already agreed to try.

- Do you remember your first training? How was it?

- I really liked the first training session. The girls warmly welcomed me into the team, I immediately found a common language with everyone. The coach liked how I showed myself. He gave me a chance and I took it.

- Regarding the results of the season. "Kryvbas" finished seventh this year in the tournament table of the Higher League. How would you rate the team's performance in the first stage?

- Well done girls, the team tried and fought until the end. Everyone knows that we are the youngest team in the championship, so I think this is our little victory, still to come.

- Which match of the first stage do you remember the most?

- Probably, this is our first victory - over "Obolonya". Then there were very cool emotions. It was a home game at our home stadium and we were able to get three points. Everyone was very happy!

- What is Daria Kolodiy's dream for the future?

- Of course, my dream is related to football. It is to play in the top 5 European club championships and to play in the Champions League.
