Domingo Marin: I was impressed by the desire of Kryvbas players to learn and become better

Assistant head coach of Kryvyi Rih Kryvbas Domingo Marin gave his first interview in his new position.

- Domingo, what was your first feeling when you arrived in Kryvyi Rih and at the Kryvbas base?

- The city is quite cozy and beautiful. As for the infrastructure, everything at Kryvbas is at a high level. There are the necessary conditions for fruitful work.

- What surprised you the most about the team in the first days of work?

- I was impressed by the desire of the players to learn and become better. They train with great energy and a desire to achieve something important. I am sure that our guys will succeed.

- How did the coaching staff and players receive you?

- Honestly, I feel like I have known everyone for a very long time. I was received extremely warmly. There is a real red-white family here, and I am happy to work with these people in the same club.

- What do you see as your main role in the coaching staff?

- My task is to help the Kryvbas players develop and grow, and also to make sure that they understand and adapt to the philosophy of the head coach as soon as possible.

- What style of football is closest to you and how does it fit with the philosophy of Kryvbas?

- One of the reasons why I decided to come to FC Kryvbas is that I know the philosophy of the coach, Patrick van Leeuwen, and his working methods, which largely coincide with mine.

- How important is working with young players for you?

- The most important thing is to see in the eyes of young football players who come to elite football the desire to progress and achieve success. And the way they thank me for it really fills me up as a coach.

- Are you more of a motivator or a tactician?

- You could say I'm 50/50: when we need to work on improving, we work. Training is repetition and repetition, even if something doesn't work out. And at other times of the day, I try to support and motivate the players, help them physically and mentally.

- Do you have your own "tricks" in preparing for matches?

- Of course! But I won't tell you about them so that the opponents don't know (smiles).

- What goals do you set for yourself in Kryvbas?

- I want to help the team progress and get a ticket to the European competitions.

- What will be an indicator of successful work in the club for you?

- Organization and order, as well as the willingness of everyone in the club to grow and become stronger every day.

- What do you already know about Ukrainian football?

- UPL is a very competitive and demanding league, where there are no easy opponents - anyone can punish you for a mistake.

- Have you had time to get to know the city of Kryvyi Rih? What are your first impressions?

- To be honest, in the short time that I have been in the city, I haven't managed to see much yet. We spend most of the day working at the base, so after finishing I only think about resting and preparing for the next day to return with joy and inspiration. If players have a desire to learn and progress, we, as coaches, must pass on to them the same desire to teach.

- What is the strongest quality of a modern football player, in your opinion?

- The energy and enthusiasm of young players.

- Three words that you can use to describe FC Kryvyi Rih.

- Ambition, courage, inspiration.
