The forward of the FA Kryvbas U-15 team, Ivan Yarmoliuk, spoke about his own progress and plans, as well as his star older brother Yehor, a football player for the English Brentford and the Ukrainian national team.
- Ivan, you have been at the Kryvbas Academy since 2024. What in this system has been the biggest difference for you from the previous stage?
- In general, I can say that the level and the training process itself at the Kryvbas Football Academy are high. But 2025 turned out to be very difficult for me: during this time I suffered three injuries and did not play football for almost half a year. I have only just started to recover, and in about two weeks I should return to training in the general group.
- Last year you played 9 matches and scored 3 goals. Do you consider anything from this period to be your personal step forward?
- I think this is not a very good result for me - I could have done more. Therefore, it is probably wrong to talk about a step forward. But in order to score more, I will train even more, give my all on the field and bring victories to the team.
- You have an example from your older brother, who already plays in the Premier League. What is the most valuable thing for you from his path now?
- For me, the most valuable thing is to take an example from him: how he trains, how he prepares for matches, what his regime is. My brother always tells me what to do on the field and how to behave in football life.
- Can you tell me some last piece of advice that you remembered from him?
- The last piece of advice was when I had this serious injury. He told me not to give up, to continue to believe in myself, to return to the field, to get in shape, to score as many goals as possible, to play better and to bring victories to the team.
- What do you talk about most often with your brother when it comes to football?
- We talk about everything: tactics, psychology and the life of a professional player. And that when you become older, you have to consciously move to a new level of football - not a child's, but a more professional and mature one.
- How often do you manage to see each other in person, considering the different countries and schedules? When was the last time?
- About twice a year. The last time Yegor came in the summer, and we saw each other for about two weeks. We had a great time then. I had an injury, we recovered together, trained and tried to become better versions of ourselves. I miss him very much.
- How important is it for you to be perceived not only by your last name, but by your game and your own progress?
- It's important for me because I have to play by myself and be responsible for myself. I want to prove that I play football well and can score a lot of goals for the team.
- How does Yehor evaluate your game today? What does he pay attention to most often?
- Yegor evaluates me well, always supports and believes in me. He tells me to go forward more, set up my body better and open up to free zones more often.
- Are there any footballers whose game you follow especially closely and from whom you take an example?
- Yes, I follow my brother and take an example from him. But I have another favorite - Kylian Mbappe. He plays in the same position as me, and I am guided by him in many ways.
- What quality would you like to develop in yourself the most in the coming years?
- It is important for me to develop my physique and technique at the Kryvbas Football Academy. I want to be more skillful in finding free zones, and therefore - to score as many goals as possible.
