In one of the most compelling matches of the 11th round of the UPL, Kryvbas hosted Dynamo. This marked the first home game for the "Red-and-Whites" under the leadership of their new head coach, Oleksandr Petrakov.
First Half
The match began with the visitors taking the initiative and immediately establishing control of the ball. However, the Kryvyi Rih side responded quickly with dangerous attacks. In the 8th minute, Seсk connected with a cross from Bar Lin, but his header was saved by Bushchan. A minute later, the home side's forward found himself in a scoring position once again, though this time his effort missed the target.
In the 12th minute, Pidhurskyi delivered a superb pass that put Seсk one-on-one with the goalkeeper; however, the Senegalese player’s shot was blocked by Bushchan. Shortly after, Giovany also had a chance, but he fired the ball over the crossbar following a pass from a teammate.
The visitors withstood the pressure and eventually opened the scoring. Following a cross from Yarmolenko on the right flank, Ponomarenko headed the ball into the net - 0:1. The goal underwent a lengthy VAR review for a potential offside, but it was ultimately allowed to stand. The "Red-and-Whites" continued to push forward, playing with considerable aggression in the final third, yet they struggled to convert their efforts into a goal. In the 41st minute, Giovany cut in from the left flank toward the penalty area and sent a shot just wide of the right post.
A minute later, Dynamo was awarded a penalty: Vilivald fouled Ponomarenko inside his own penalty area following a pass played behind the defensive line. Yarmolenko stepped up to the spot and confidently converted the kick, making it 0:2. Then, in stoppage time at the end of the first half, Yarmolenko committed a very rough challenge on Giovani in the middle of the pitch, for which he was immediately and rightly shown a red card.
Second Half
Kryvbas began the second half with the man advantage, playing more aggressively as they sought to narrow the deficit. In the 50th minute, Giovany took a shot from just outside the penalty area, but the ball went wide. Shortly after, Shevchenko also tried his luck from distance, but his effort missed the target. In the 56th minute, Giovani fired a dangerous shot from the left flank, with the ball flying just past the far post.
Two minutes later, Bar Lin forced Bushchan to show his quality; the Dynamo goalkeeper managed to tip a deflected long-range shot over the crossbar. In the 59th minute, following a cross from the left, Pidhurskyi headed the ball from the center of the penalty area, but it sailed over the bar.
The "Red-and-Whites" held the initiative and continued to look for opportunities near their opponents' goal. In the 70th minute, a long-range attempt by Pidhurskyi was blocked by Brazhko. Unfortunately, the teams were unable to continue the match as usual. In the 74th minute, play was suspended due to an air raid alert. The match resumed an hour later.
The final stretch of the encounter saw Kryvbas completely dominate. Over the last 15 minutes, the "Red-and-Whites" kept their opponents pinned in their own half, constantly applying pressure near the Kyiv side's goal and searching for a scoring opportunity. The Kryvyi Rih team launched attack after attack, attempting to create danger through runs down the flanks and deliveries into the penalty area.
Dynamo was forced to focus on defense and fend off the hosts' attacks. Despite their territorial advantage, persistence, and desire to salvage a result, Kryvbas could not find a way to unlock the visitors' defense. The "Red-and-Whites" fought for a goal until the very end, but the final whistle confirmed a victory for the Kyiv side - 0:2.
