Tomorrow, Kryvbas will play the final friendly match as part of the second summer training camp in the Netherlands. The opponent of Patrick van Leuven's team will be one of the strongest clubs in Belgium - Gent.
Gent is one of the leading clubs in Belgian football, founded in 1864. The team plays its home matches at the modern Planet Group Arena (20,184 spectators). In the 2025/26 season, the "buffaloes" (the team's nickname) took 6th place in the Belgian championship and performed in the Championship playoff group - in the end, 5th position. The team traditionally fights for high places in the domestic championship and regularly represents Belgium in European competitions.
The club's greatest achievement is the Belgian championship in the 2014/2015 season. Gent also won the Belgian Cup four times and the Belgian Super Cup once, and is a three-time silver medalist. In the 2015/2016 season, the Belgians made their debut in the UEFA Champions League, where they reached the round of 16. The head coach of the team is 44-year-old local specialist Rick De Mille.
The Belgian club has a number of players with experience in matches in leading European championships and on the international stage, so for Kryvbas this will be a great test of strength before the start of the new season. Among the foreign players, we note players from England, Burkina Faso, Japan, Algeria, Panama, Estonia, Senegal, Poland, and other countries.
The sparring match with Kryvbas will be the fourth for the Belgians this offseason: Merelbeke Belgium - 6:1, AZ Netherlands - 3:3, Beveren Belgium - 4:0. Kryvyi Rih, in turn, has also already managed to hold four friendly matches, in Ukraine: Inhulets Petrove (d) - 1:2, Chornomorets Odesa (g) - 1:2 and two in the Netherlands: Lommel Belgium - 2:4, Zulte-Waregem Belgium - 1:2.
