On Saturday, October 10, Kryvyi Rih’s Kryvbas will play their next match of the 2026/2027 Ukrainian championship season. In Matchday 8, the "Red-and-Whites" will face Obolon Kyiv in an away game.
The teams' previous meeting took place on March 7, 2026, in Kyiv during Matchday 19 of the 2025/2026 UPL season. On that occasion, Obolon and Kryvbas played out a 0:0 draw. Late in the match, the Red-and-Whites had several chances to snatch a victory, but the Kyiv side's goalkeeper and the goalpost saved the hosts from conceding.
Obolon played their last UPL match on September 18, drawing 1:1 away against Chornomorets Odesa. Prior to that, the Kyiv team had lost to LNZ (1:3) and FC Kharkiv (0:5). In seven league matches, they have yet to secure a win, recording four draws and three losses.
Kryvbas also last played in the UPL on September 18. In Zhytomyr, the Red-and-Whites suffered a narrow 0:1 defeat to Polissya, conceding a penalty goal in the 5th minute. Before that, the Kryvyi Rih side drew 2:2 with Kolos and lost 0:1 to Chornomorets in Odesa. During the league break, the Kryvyi Rih side played a friendly match against Shakhtar.
The game took place on October 2 in Vynnyky and ended in a 3:0 victory for the Donetsk team. Meanwhile, several Kryvbas players received call-ups to their national teams: Volodymyr Vilivald played for Ukraine’s U-21 squad, Roy Nawi for Israel U-21, Giovany Herbert and Joseph Jones represented Panama, and Kachwele played for Tanzania. The international break offered them a chance to gain match experience at the national team level.
Obolon also played friendly matches during the break. The Kyiv-based team lost 1:3 to LNZ but defeated Kudrivka 2:0. Next up for the "Red-and-Whites" is an away match, where the team will aim to secure crucial points and get back to winning ways in the league.
