Goalkeeper of Kryvyi Rih Kryvbas Oleksandr Kemkin answered journalists' questions on the eve of the home match of the 1st round of the new UPL season against Lviv Karpaty.
- Oleksandr, the last test match is already behind us, and ahead is the start of the new championship. How do you feel and in what condition is the team approaching the start of the championship?
- The summer training camp was very intense. We did a lot of work, there was a lot of stress. But without it, nowhere. The harder the training camp, the better the team is ready for the season. The final sparring match with Livny Bereg (5:3) became a dress rehearsal for us before the start of the championship, so we were tuning in to it as if it were an official game.
This transfer offseason, as always for Kryvbas, turned out to be very eventful. Many players left the team, many new ones came. But we already have experience of such changes. I think the newcomers will adapt quickly to the team and become a full-fledged part of it.
- In what form are you approaching the start of the championship? How ready are you for the first official games of the season?
- I think I worked well during the offseason. Therefore, I can say that I am fully ready for the start of the championship. But only the season will give the real answer to this.
- What can we expect from Kryvbas in the championship, which starts in a few days?
- As always, in every match we will play only for victory. We want our fans to be proud of the team, so we will give our all on the field.
- How would you assess the current level of Ukrainian goalkeepers? Which goalkeeper impresses you the most today?
- Ukraine has always had a very strong goalkeeping school. I don’t want to single anyone out, because we have many high-level goalkeepers. I am convinced that many of them can already play successfully in Europe and demonstrate their class there.
- What personal goals do you set for yourself for the new season?
- I don't set global goals for myself. I don't like to look far ahead. The most important thing for me is the next game, and I want to show the best version of myself in it.
- You probably followed the World Cup. What conclusions did you draw for yourself as a goalkeeper?
- The World Cup seemed very interesting. I didn't manage to watch all the matches, but I certainly watched the key matches. For goalkeepers, this tournament was another confirmation that sometimes one successful championship is enough for the whole football world to talk about you, and your life to change radically
- Do you mean the goalkeeper of the Cape Verde national team, Vozinha?
- Yes. He had a great championship, there are no questions about it. But there was an incredible media hype around him. The whole football world was talking about him, it was real hype. At the same time, there were many goalkeepers in this championship who deserved high praise. Among them, I would single out Dominik Livakovic.
