Oleksandr Kemkin: Strategy during penalties? There is, but let it remain my secret

Goalkeeper of Kryvyi Rih "Kryvbas" Oleksandr Kemkin became the hero of the next issue of FOCUS ON on the club's YouTube.

- Why did you choose the position of goalkeeper? In what other role could you see yourself on the field?

- I just stood in goal for fun, and it stayed that way for the rest of my life (smiles). Of course, someday in a friendly match I would like to try myself as a striker, to score a goal. And so, it's too late to change anything.

- Is goalkeeper more about psychology or physics?

- In this position, a player can be very physically developed, but if the mentality is weak for a goalkeeper, it's a minus. After all, in football you need to be as psychologically stable as possible. In football, there are many examples when football players achieve great results due to psychology. Psychology is more important, I think, than physics.

- Are there goalkeeper gloves that you consider "lucky"?

- No, I don't believe in it. But I remember my first gloves well. Unfortunately, I didn't keep them (smiles).

- Who was your first idol among goalkeepers?

- As a child, I really liked the game of David de Gea and Iker Casillas. There are many top goalkeepers. But they stood out. Probably Gianluigi Buffon.

- Which exercise in training is the most difficult for you, and which is your favorite?

- The most difficult - a lot of running around at training camps. My favorite - everything related to working with the ball.

- What do you think at the moment of a penalty? Do you have any strategy of your own?

- Of course, there is a strategy. But let it remain my secret (smiles).
