Oleksandr Petrakov: When the guys’ eyes light up - well, you understand, these are my guys

Oleksandr Petrakov, head coach of Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih, commented on the Ukrainian Cup Round of 16 away match against Zorya Luhansk, which ended 1:1 (3:2 on penalties).

- Oleksandr Vasylovych, with what emotions and thoughts are you leaving this match?

- I am very satisfied. Things didn't always go according to plan - we had some issues with set-pieces - so we will keep working on that. But I want to thank the lads. I want to say to everyone: they listen; I can see it with my own eyes. There’s no one turning away or ignoring instructions. They carry out everything during training, and everyone is striving for results. So, I am pleased with these guys. There is no rotation right now - not yet, anyway.

- How would you assess the flow of the match itself?

- In the first half, we had some noticeable lapses for about 18-20 minutes. But towards the end, we were attacking, launching counter-attacks, and could have scored. The most important thing is their desire. I am convinced that with this kind of desire, skill will follow. If there’s indifference - well, I don’t work with players like that. But when the guys have that fire in their eyes - well, you understand, those are *my* guys.

- What is the team’s plan for the coming days?

- We’re heading home. Tomorrow is for recovery: one group will undergo recovery procedures - sauna and so on - while the other group will train. We’ll do all the necessary work and prepare for the match against Dynamo.
