Patrick van Leeuwen: The second half was a great team performance with three fantastic goals

Head coach of Kryvyi Rih Kryvbas Patrick van Leeuwen commented on the away match of the 2nd round of the UPL against Luhansk Zorya - 3:1.

- Patrick, how would you rate the week of preparation for the match against Zorya?

- I think we had a good week of training. After the match against Karpaty, we wanted to continue in the same direction this weekend - scoring goals, creating chances and controlling the game. In the first half we had a good moment, which ended with a shot by Satchwell. Unfortunately, there was an offside. If we had learned the right lessons from last week, then perhaps everything would have turned out differently, and the score would have been 1:0 in our favor.

- After that, Kryvbas allowed Zorya to control the ball more. Did that fit into your game plan?

- Yes, we gave the opponent a little too much initiative. We let them have the ball in their half of the field, but at the same time we planned to act more aggressively in the center. It didn't quite work, so at halftime we made some adjustments and decided to play more aggressively - the way we usually do. We have a new attack line that still needs to play together and interact better when pressing. But I think we did what we planned in the second half.

- In the second half, Kryvbas scored three times. How satisfied are you with the team's performance after the break?

- The opponent created several chances, there were also long-range shots, but at the same time we scored three fantastic goals, which I am sure our fans really liked. I think that based on the results of the second half, it was a well-deserved victory.

- What changed the most in the team's actions compared to the first round?

- Today, the team corrected these mistakes - or rather, shortcomings in certain episodes. The second half was a great team performance with three fantastic goals.

- Kryvbas was losing after the first half, but in the end won 3:1. How important was the team's character?

- Yes, the guys showed great character: they returned to the game, added aggression and pace and brought the match to a well-deserved victory.
