The head coach of Kryvyi Rih Kryvbas Patrick van Leeuwen commented on the sixth friendly match at the winter training camp in Spain against the Latvian Liepaja - 1:1.
- Patrick, how would you rate the sparring match?
- We were training Liepaja before the game, so we knew that we would face a physically strong opponent. It's good that at the training camp we meet opponents who provide proper resistance. This is what we got from the very first minute. We also did very well today, pressuring the opponent and creating scoring opportunities. At the beginning of the game, I think we should have scored more.
There were many good chances to score in the first half. But overall I'm satisfied with this game. We finished the sparring match in the minority after the red card, and this gave us another opportunity - to play with ten men. So this is also good preparation if this happens in the championship.
- Was it difficult to finish the match in the minority?
- Okay, the referee decided that it was a red card, so we had to adapt, and we did it very well. We played with ten men, defending and at the same time not giving many opportunities to the opponent, and also creating a few chances for ourselves. So I am satisfied with this segment as well. It was an additional opportunity to show ourselves in such conditions.
- What are Kryvbas' plans for the last week of training?
- We have one more game left in the training camp, so this will be another opportunity to see players in different positions. Like today. I was left with a good impression, like in the previous sparring, of our organization of the game in attack and defense. So yes, I am very satisfied with what we saw today from all the players.
- How would you rate the performance of the winter newcomers today?
- The newcomers also got a good physical test and that was also good to see. Jones in defence paired with Williwald - it was really nice to see them fight against strong opponents in the first and second half. I think Seck also showed himself well in some moments. We are still trying to get them to their optimal form and the same goes for Shami Adam. We were able to give him a few minutes so we will see what he can do going forward.
