Patrick van Leeuwen: Played well, controlled the ball and created many chances

The head coach of Kryvyi Rih Kryvbas Patrick van Leeuwen commented on the home match of the 13th round of the UPL against Rivne Veres - 2:2.

- Patrick, the start of the match was successful for our team. Zaderaka opened the scoring, and at the end of the first half we saw Konate's debut goal. Please comment on these episodes.

- As for the first half, we scored two good goals. I think we created a few more chances to score the third and fourth goals. I must also note that Makhankov helped his team out in one or two situations with very good saves that could have changed the course of the first half. But overall we played well, controlled the ball and created many chances. We should have been more accurate in finishing attacks, in moments on the flanks, where Mendoza escaped due to his speed, where Maksym Zaderaka came one on one with the goalkeeper. These should have been goals.

- In the second half, we conceded two goals. Compared to the first half, can we say that we lost concentration? What do you think?

- I think that we didn't lose concentration, but we lost discipline in those two episodes when we conceded. During the first goal, we were too involved in the attack with the entire left flank, and a free zone was formed there. We created a difficult situation for the other three defenders - and yet, I think, they should have acted more intelligently: to close all the zones so as not to concede.

The second goal is the episode we talked about at half-time: when the opponent moves forward with the ball. We have to meet them, slow down the pace of the attack or force them to pass. In that episode, we gave the opponent the opportunity to shoot at the goal.

I think we prepared well for this team. This was especially visible in the first half, when we controlled the game and should have scored more. But in the end we conceded two goals. Maybe it was a lack of experience. After the break there were also moments, but they were not enough to win this match.

Tverdokhlib will return next week, and we will prepare for Shakhtar. I am also happy that I was able to give a chance to the young players today, so that they can gain invaluable experience: Maya, Shevchenko, Kamenskyi.
