Head coach of Kryvyi Rih Kryvbas Patrick van Leeuwen commented on the away match of the 17th round of the UPL against Kharkiv Metalist 1925 - 0:0.
- I believe that the work we did at the winter training camp helped the team. At the end of the camp, we played very good matches, and the team managed to maintain the same style, the same performance and energy in the first official game of the championship.
Considering the change in weather - a difference of plus 20 or minus 25 degrees between Spain and here - I think the guys did very well. They played as a team, fought from the first to the last minute. We were a little unlucky to realize our good moment, but overall we performed well in all components of the game.
- How would you comment on today's debuts of Jones and Bodnar in an official match for Kryvbas?
- I think that since he joined us a month ago, Joseph has adapted very quickly to what we want to achieve with him. Of course, there is a difference in pace between Panama and Ukraine and our training, but every week he has changed, progressed and become better. Today it was not at all clear that this was his debut match.
He acted very confidently and very focused throughout the match. So I am very pleased with Jones' debut. Matvii Bodnar also showed himself very well in the training camp. Like all the young players, they have significantly improved in training in this group.
I think that the decision to release Bodnar, given his speed, was the right one - to give him the opportunity to debut and create a few chances, because first of all he came on the field due to his qualities, and not just for the sake of debuting.
- To what extent does the score 0:0 correspond to the events on the field?
- I think both teams didn't really create scoring chances. We had some episodes after set pieces that were dangerous or could have been even more intense, as well as a few moments from the match. So, I think a draw is fair for this match as a whole.
