Patrick van Leeuwen: We won the Ukrainian Cup match, advanced - and that's the main thing

The head coach of Kryvyi Rih Kryvbas Patrick van Leeuwen commented on the away match of the 1/32 finals of the Ukrainian Cup against FC Rokyta - 3:0.

- Mr. Patrick, how would you assess the match against Rokyta and the 3:0 victory?

- While the opponent still had strength in the first half, we played at too low a pace. We needed to act faster from the very beginning: pick up the pace, move the ball faster and create more chances. We scored a good goal, but, to be honest, we should have scored more before the break. In the second half, we played better, added intensity and generally looked more convincing.

- In the second half, the team scored twice more. What changed after the break and how did we manage to add more?

- It was important for us to increase the lead in the score, because we generally controlled the game. The difference in class was still noticeable - we were able to create and realize our chances.

- How important was it not just to win, but also to play reliably in defense?

- As we always say, you need to be able to play according to the circumstances that arise during the match. And today we did a good job with that. I am especially pleased with our defense. We did our job better, defended more reliably and practically did not allow the opponent to create dangerous moments.

- Kryvbas advances to the next round of the Ukrainian Cup. What is the main task for the team now?

- Now we need to look ahead. We won the Ukrainian Cup match, advanced - and that is the main thing. We are moving forward.
