Patrick van Leeuwen: We didn't play the way we wanted to today, but we tried

The head coach of Kryvyi Rih Kryvbas Patrick van Leeuwen commented on the away match of the 20th round of the UPL against Zhytomyr Polissya - 0:2 on UPL TV.

- Today was a difficult match for your team. You noted that the first 15 minutes were very high-quality for your team, they attacked intensively, but after that we almost did not see Kryvbas in the attack. How to explain this?

- In the first 15 minutes we did not start aggressively enough. We had a plan to drop one player lower to create an additional player during the attack. It was clear that there was such an opportunity, but they were unable to play this option. So yes, the first 15 minutes were a bit difficult, but after that we got into the game. We created the first chance with Mendoza, we could have scored.

Then we had more chances, we tried to realize them, but, of course, it does not always work out. So, for example, with Zorya we were able to realize our opportunities, with Obolon it was difficult. And we didn’t have enough chances to play against Polissya the way we wanted, but we tried.

- Somewhere in the 17th minute of the game, I noticed how you were talking to Mendoza. What did you talk about?

- I wanted to tell him that he is not always in the right place, that he needs to be more in the center, be more aggressive and better realize the chances in his position.

- You have already said that today there was not enough realization somewhere. This is the third match this year when Kryvbas does not score…

- Of course, I am not worried about it, because we believe in our players. In every game we have our chances, and they have to believe in themselves and realize their chances.

- Today there was no Paraсo, who played in absolutely every match this season in the starting lineup. Can you say that you didn't have enough of him today?

- Of course, you can say that Paraсo is our main forward, who plays in every match, but he didn't score in the previous game. But he is really a very important player for us.
