The head coach of Kryvyi Rih Kryvbas Patrick van Leeuwen commented on the away match of the 19th round of the UPL against Kyiv's Obolon - 0:0.
- Patrick, please evaluate today's match.
- I am disappointed with the final result. I think we went out to play football, but we met an opponent who only wanted to defend. It was immediately noticeable that it was difficult for our team to lead the game, because for this we also need an opponent who wants to play football. Therefore, it was more difficult for us to create chances to score.
And if you have less and less time left and there is no goal, it becomes more and more difficult, the players start to get nervous and want to change something. That's why we tried to change the game, make it more straightforward, deliver more crosses to the goal. But even that didn't bring us any results today, that is, at least a goal to win the match.
- We saw a lot of tackles, a lot of fighting. Was there anything that surprised you about Obolon today?
- I didn't see too much from Obolon's side. I think they didn't create dangerous moments near our goal, they didn't have many opportunities to do so. On the other hand, we had a lot of chances that we should have used better and more wisely. In such a game, the guys have a lot of enthusiasm, they want to give the last pass, score the decisive goal, but we needed to play smarter to get more than one point from this game.
- Today, Seck made his debut for Kryvbas. You replaced him at halftime. What is the reason for this?
- Yes, before the game you try to find the best lineup, combine Ukrainian and foreign players. So the decision was made to release Sek at the start. We more or less knew that he did not have the strength for the entire 90 minutes, so we counted on one half, and then we looked at the circumstances. So we decided to make two substitutions at halftime to see if this would give us the opportunity to score at least one goal.
