The head coach of Kryvyi Rih Kryvbas Patrick van Leeuwen answered seven unusual questions from the club's media service as part of the blitz.
- Discipline or creativity?
- Discipline. This is number one in the development of a player. It provides stability by 70-80%, and the remaining 20-30% is added by individual skill and creativity. But first - discipline and team play.
- A 1:0 or 4:3 victory?
- Johan Cruyff said that it is better to score one goal more than the opponent. Both 1:0 and 5:4 are good results, but for the fans 4:3 is a real spectacle.
- What character trait do you find unacceptable in a player?
- A football player must understand that he is a professional and has a limited period - 10-15 years - to realize himself. Responsibility is needed. This is especially important for young foreign players, because the culture they come from does not always require maximum daily performance. But one of the strengths of our team is the desire to constantly move forward.
- The system for the players or the players for the system?
- We choose the system in such a way as to make the most of the players' strengths and give each player tasks that match their abilities.
- The most difficult stadium where you have had to play?
- There are not many fans in the stadiums now, so the noise does not interfere. Previously, after the quarantine, these were matches in Israel. In Ukraine, due to the war, they initially played without spectators. I hope that in the future the stadiums will be full again.
- Advice to yourself at the beginning of your coaching career?
- Pay attention to the people around you. I remember how at the beginning of my coaching career in the U-11 team I did not give a chance to all the kids. Therefore, my advice is to remember each player and give them the opportunity to prove themselves, but only if they work hard.
- In one word, Kryvbas for you is…?
- If in one word, for me it is pleasure. I enjoy every day I spend here.
