"Polissya" - "Kryvbas" 1:0

In Matchday 7 of the UPL, Kryvbas faced Polissya in Zhytomyr in one of the weekend's most intriguing fixtures.

First Half

As early as the 4th minute, the referee awarded a penalty against Kryvbas after spotting a foul by our player during a challenge between Nawi and Fedor. Krasnopir confidently converted the spot-kick, firing into the right corner to make it 1:0.

After the goal, Polissya continued to control the game and played more aggressively in the opposition's half. For a long spell, Kryvbas struggled to create any real danger near the opponent's goal. In the 30th minute, the "Red-and-Whites" had a counter-attacking opportunity: Giovany drove through the center and took a shot, but the ball went wide of the left post.

Towards the end of the half, the teams traded dangerous chances. First, Krasnopir fired from distance following a pass from Chobotenko, hitting the crossbar. In response, the lively Giovany unleashed a powerful shot from just outside the penalty area, but Kudryk reacted quickly to save Polissya from a certain goal.

Then, in stoppage time, the crossbar came to Kryvbas's rescue for the second time: after receiving a pass from Sarapii, Babenko turned just outside the box and struck the woodwork.

Second Half

Kryvbas started the second half with more intensity, pushing to get back into the match. In the 56th minute, Kamenskyi carried the ball down the left side of the penalty area, beating several opponents, but unfortunately, his shot struck the near post. Two minutes later, Polissya responded with a chance of their own: following a pass from Krasnopir, Andrade found himself on the right side of the box but shot wide of the near post.

Subsequently, the hosts gradually stepped up their attack. In the 70th minute, Shevchenko got in the path of Krasniqi’s attempt, blocking a dangerous shot from just outside the penalty area. The Zhytomyr side tried to create threats with long-range shots a few more times, but to no avail.

Kryvbas did not give up and kept looking for an opening right until the final whistle. In the 82nd minute, after the ball fell to him on the left side of the box, Satchwell tried to curl a shot into the far corner but sent it over the bar. Then, in the 86th minute, the hosts came within a whisker of scoring a second goal. During a counterattack, Haiduchyk cut inside from the right flank and curled a long-range shot - but the ball struck the left post.

Ultimately, Kryvbas lost 0:1 to Polissya, conceding the only goal from a penalty early in the match. The Red-and-Whites put in a creditable performance and created chances, but were unable to equalize.
