Roy Nawi: I strive to take responsibility, grow, and become the best version of myself

Here is an excerpt from the exclusive interview featured in the official match program for the 2025/2026 UPL Matchday 1 game between Kryvbas and Karpaty, in which the team's new Israeli signing, midfielder Roy Nawi, answered our questions.

- It has been quite some time since you joined Kryvbas. What are your initial impressions of the club and the city of Kryvyi Rih?

- I was pleasantly surprised by the level of professionalism at the club. It is a step up from what I was used to previously, and the pace of the game here is completely different. I am very happy to be part of Kryvbas.

- You played in Israel, represented the youth national team, and competed in the U-20 World Cup. Which of those experiences is helping you the most right now?

- Playing alongside high-level footballers helped me a great deal. Experienced teammates taught me a lot back then. Now, I aim to take responsibility myself, develop, and become the best version of myself.

- Head coach Patrick van Leeuwen knows Israeli football very well. Did that influence your decision to join Kryvbas?

- I think so. He has known me since my youth days. Overall, the coaching staff and the entire support team are really helping me adapt to the new squad.

- Which of your teammates is helping you the most with your adaptation?

- My compatriot Bar Lin is a huge help to me. I can always rely on him; his support made the adjustment process much easier.

- Have you managed to learn a few words in Ukrainian yet?

- Yes! I’ve learned "Dyakuyu" [Thank you], "Dobryy ranok" [Good morning], "Normalno" [Fine/Okay], and "Spokiyno" [Calmly] (smiles).

- How do you usually spend your free time away from football?

- So far, I’ve only been to a restaurant a few times, as I don’t know the city very well yet. Right now, my thoughts are entirely focused on football. I came here to work.

- What would you like to say to the Kryvbas fans?

- We are really looking forward to your support! The stands give us strength; it is incredibly important for the team. We will take the pitch and give our all for you and for our shared success.
