Comments after the match of the 1st round of the Ukrainian Youth League UPL-2 2026/2027 Kryvbas U-21 - Karpaty U-21 - 0:4.
Roman Debelko, head coach of FC Kryvbas U-21:
- In the first half, luck was not on our side a little. We started the game well: we scored a goal, created chances. We didn't score a goal, then we could have scored a penalty in the Karpaty goal - we didn't score either. We missed the first goal from twenty meters: a Karpaty player hit a great shot into the corner, and then - another penalty.
That's history. In the second half, we ran to fight back. But the opponent was already catching us on counterattacks, in transition phases. After the goals conceded, perhaps it got to us somewhere - the team stopped doing what we asked. We ran into the attack to fight back. Maybe there was a little bit of character missing somewhere.
When playing defense, some guys don't finish the game. Well, again, we had such approaches to the goal, but, unfortunately, we didn't manage to score. We will analyze the game in more detail and look for something positive.
Ivan Kononykhin, defender of FC "Kryvbas" U-21:
- We lacked dedication and character. Somewhere we lost the fight, didn't give it our all and didn't show character, somewhere we were excluded from the game. The coach said that he wouldn't say much. He told us to forget this game as soon as possible, draw conclusions and become better with each game. The first match as a whole seemed difficult. We have a lot of young people. I think we need to rally the team as soon as possible and adjust the game.
Tymur Butenko, midfielder of FC Kryvbas U-21:
- There are still many games in the championship to draw conclusions and become better before the next game. During the match, the most lacking thing was probably a little bit of psychology - we got a little unstuck after the second goal. We conceded two quick goals... We could have avoided them, but it turned out the way it did. I want to apologize to the fans for this result. We will draw conclusions and become better.
