The third summer newcomer of Kryvyi Rih Kryvbas, Jamaican forward Shakeone Satchwell, gave his first interview as a red-and-white player.
- Shakeone, tell us a little about yourself. What are you like outside the football field?
- Hello! I'm Shaka. I consider myself a simple and open person. I think it's easy to find a common language with me, and I can become a good friend to anyone.
- How did your football journey begin?
- I'm originally from Jamaica. It's very difficult to break into professional football there - there aren't many chances. But football is a part of life for us. From the age of two or three, children play just on the street: barefoot, without boots. At first, it's just fun, but later many understand that football is their path.
- What position do you like to play the most?
- I like playing the number ten position the most - under the striker. But overall I am a versatile player and can play on the right, left or in the center of attack. The most important thing for me is to benefit the team where I am needed the most.
- What was your reaction when you found out about Kryvbas' interest?
- To be honest, I was very surprised. I knew that this was a Ukrainian Premier League club that had recently played in European competitions. So it was a very pleasant surprise for me. I was immediately happy to join the team.
- How were you received by the new team?
- I was welcomed very warmly by Kryvbas. All the guys are friendly, they helped me adapt right away. There is a great atmosphere here, so I quickly felt like I was part of the team.
- Are you already learning Ukrainian?
- Yes, and it seems to me that Ukrainian has some similarities with Croatian and Slovenian. I already know some words because I constantly hear them in the locker room and at training.
- If you could describe yourself in three words, what would they be?
- Cheerful, modest and hardworking.
- Who was your childhood football idol?
- When I was little, my idol was Kaka. Later, I fell in love with Cristiano Ronaldo's game. I really like his professionalism, attitude to his work and desire to constantly become better. At the same time, Kaka will forever remain a special football player for me.
- What do you want to say to the fans of Kryvbas?
- I will give all my strength to Kryvbas. I will work hard every day, progress, help the team and do everything possible to benefit the club. I hope that together with our partners we will give our fans many bright victories.
