The European eFootball Championship in eFootball PES 2021 under the auspices of the European eSports Federation (ECF) is being held in Ukraine for the first time.
Representatives of 11 national teams from Azerbaijan, Croatia, Hungary, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Turkey and Ukraine came to Kryvyi Rih.
At the official opening of the tournament, the first vice-president of the Ukrainian e-football association Denis Davydov noted: "We were able to bring this tournament here thanks to the fact that e-sports is officially recognized in Ukraine.
It is an honor for us to host such a serious tournament here in Kryvyi Rih. And we hope that an event of this scale is happening here for the first time, but not for the last time. By the way, we will fight for the right to hold the World Championship in Ukraine, and perhaps it will come to Kryvyi Rih."
"I hope that this tournament will give a powerful impetus to the development of both electronic and regular football. Let me remind you that on August 24, right after the final of this championship, the Supermatch will be held at the "Hirnyk" stadium, where the symbolic national teams of Ukraine and Europe will play, consisting of the players who have gathered here today, as well as football stars," stressed the vice-president of FC "Kryvbas" Artem Gagarin.
Deputy Mayor of Kryvyi Rih Sergey Milyutin emphasized the importance of holding the tournament in Kryvyi Rih: "This is not just a European championship, it is another step towards the realization of our dream of transforming our city not only into one of the largest industrial centers, but also into one of the most serious creative and sports hubs in Europe , including e-sports".
