From Football to Mining: Kryvbas Visits Rudomine

Ahead of their Ukrainian Premier League Matchday 9 home game against LNZ Cherkasy, the players and coaching staff of Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih visited an open-pit mine operated by the club’s general partner, Rudomine.

A tour was organized for the "Red-and-Whites," allowing the team to gain a closer look at the company’s operations, witness the scale of iron ore extraction, and see the heavy machinery used in the production process firsthand.

Representatives from Kryvbas traveled deep into the quarry by bus, observing the facility and its workforce in action. The massive mining vehicles used for extracting and transporting ore drew particular attention. The visit offered the players a glimpse into another side of life in their home city—the daily labor of the people who sustain an industry vital to Kryvyi Rih.

"This has been a fantastic experience for our team. If you’ve never been to a place like this, it’s truly worth seeing - to witness firsthand the things that are part of our world. The scale is impressive. I think it’s very beneficial for the guys to see this; their world is football, which exists in a completely different sphere. It’s interesting to experience the contrast between football and, let’s say, genuine, hard physical labor," commented Kryvbas head coach Patrick van Leeuwen.

The tour provided an opportunity for the team to gain a closer look at the operations of the club’s general partner and to observe production processes firsthand. For a city with a rich mining heritage, this industry is an integral part of both its history and its present.

FC Kryvbas extends its gratitude to Rudomine for the invitation and the opportunity to visit the production quarry.
