The head coach of Luhansk "Zorya" Viktor Skrypnyk commented on the home match of the 2nd round of the UPL against "Kryvbas" Kryvyi Rih - 1:3.
- We saw two classic different halves. But you scored only once, while the opponent scored three times. Is it even possible to ask the question "why did this happen"?
- You know, we need to look at everything again. But there is such an inner feeling that we were just finishing the match. We go into the second half and for some reason we think that everything is fine with us, that we can relax and not play at full capacity. We were only waiting for mistakes from the opponent, and we ourselves did not work properly. I have very big questions for those leaders who are in our team. You have to be a leader not only in the locker room, but also on the football field.
So we played this half very, very badly. Last season, we had the opposite: we usually failed in the first half, and then played, wanted to, ran. And now... It's very disappointing. However, I must admit that Kryvbas deserved to score these two or three goals today, which they did.
- If we talk about your mistakes: there were simply an endless number of shots practically from the penalty area line. Someone didn't have time, someone didn't knock it out, someone "fell asleep". Are these the mistakes you mean?
- Yes. I already mentioned that last season we had a similar game with Kudrivka. We played, led 2:0, then conceded... And then we just played to the end, while the opponents wanted more. The same thing happened today. Therefore, we ourselves are to blame for everything that happened. We will look for the reasons exclusively in ourselves. In my opinion, this is a matter of psychology. It cannot be that you play and think that it will always be like this, that everything will be fine, and the other team supposedly doesn't want to win or show character.
There was a conversation in the locker room now - not a very pleasant one. But I will say it again: this is the work that needs to be done. You can't just sit and wait for your opponent to make mistakes. You have to press, fight, run - and then the result will come. Unfortunately, I didn't see that in the second half.
- Even after three goals conceded, you had moments, chances. If you had managed to score a second goal, would it have been easier from then on?
- Now we can only guess. Probably, every goal is a hope for an improvement in the situation, so of course. In general, Kryvbas has been, as they say, sucking our blood for the second or third year in a row. But I will repeat: we treat our opponent with respect, they deserved more today. And with the way we spent the second half - the score that we saw on the scoreboard is quite natural.
