Volodymyr Makhankov: "Kryvbas" has made significant progress and we will continue to develop

Goalkeeper of Kryvyi Rih Kryvbas Volodymyr Makhankov answered journalists' questions. The most relevant moments of the conversation are for your attention. 

- What emotions remained after the draw with Kolos? Is it more of a lost victory or a natural result?

- I think it is a natural result. But, in my opinion, we were closer to victory, because we had more obvious scoring opportunities. In general, it was a rather tense, even game, so the result can be considered natural.

- Kryvbas has not lost four matches in a row. Can we say that the team has found stability in the game before the winter break?

- I think so. We started all the games quite well and scored first. But during the matches we sometimes lost control and allowed the opponent to also have the initiative. In general, we can say that this is good: we did not lose and scored points. At the same time, we could have taken more points. However, this is football. We must give credit to our opponents, because we played against quite high-quality teams. At the end of the first part of the season, our result can be assessed as positive.

- How would you generally assess the first part of the season for Kryvbas, considering the fifth place in the standings?

- I think it was a pretty good period. There was a feeling of progress in the team, because we have a new squad and coaching staff. We understood that it would be difficult. But thanks to conscientious work and mutual understanding with the coaching staff, in my opinion, we managed to achieve a good result and maintain our chances of fighting for higher places in the second part of the season.

- How much does the team feel progress in the game compared to the beginning of the championship?

- The progress is very noticeable, both within the team and for the fans. I think the best example is the quality of the game against Kolos. You can compare it with the first round, where we looked quite unconvincing, and with the second round against the same team, which, in my opinion, is also one of the contenders for the European Cup places. It is clear that the progress is significant, and we will continue to develop.

- What personal goals do you set for yourself for the second half of the season after the winter break?

- The most important thing now is to have a good rest and prepare well at the winter training camp. The goals are always the highest: you want to play, win and achieve good results. And then we will look at the standings at the end of the season. Personally, for me it is important to play, help the team, become better and develop every day.
