Midfielder Yehor Tverdokhlib of Kryvyi Rih Kryvbas answered the questions of the online publication Futbol24. The most relevant moments of the conversation are for your attention.
- Last season you had a truly explosive year: 14 goals, a club record, attention from the media and, in general, from the fans. Did you feel that after such a season, expectations for you increased and does it sometimes turn into pressure?
- It does not turn into pressure, on the contrary, you expect something more from yourself. And I do not feel additional pressure from the club or from the fans.
- You scored in five matches in a row - this is a unique indicator for the Club. What helped to maintain such a series: psychology, physics or team interaction?
- I think that, most likely, it was team interaction. We then gained a good playing form. We won five matches in a row, I think. Therefore, due to the team, perhaps luck, we managed to score goals and win those meetings in the fall.
- You started the current season effectively: five goals, two from penalties and three assists. How do you assess your start? To what extent does it meet your internal expectations?
- The start can be assessed positively, I think. Because our team has completely changed - a new coaching staff, new players. And the fact that I was able to maintain my performance at the beginning of the season is very pleasant. But you need to continue, maintain this level, and not just be satisfied with this start. Therefore, there is still a lot ahead. Roughly speaking, only a third of the championship has passed, so I hope that I will be able to maintain the level that I started.
- When such a bright previous year is behind us, the new season is always compared to it. How much does this affect you? Do you want to surpass yourself or is the main thing - to stably hold the bar?
- You always want better - no matter how you play, no matter how many goals you score. I constantly demand more from myself, because you can always bring even more benefit to score, score or pass. But, in principle, I expect and demand more from myself than I feel any pressure from the outside. I will try to do everything to maintain the bar that I have already raised and show the results that I have shown. The main thing is to maintain it, I think. Of course, I want more, but the minimum task is to preserve what has already been achieved.
- If we talk about specific goals, what personal goals do you set for this season? Is there a guideline for the number of goals or is there more emphasis on the quality of the game and the benefit for the team?
- One hundred percent - on the team result, that's all. I have said before that I do not set any personal goals for myself, and the number of goals is not decisive for me. I just want to bring results to the team, so that it wins and rises as high as possible in the standings. This is the most important thing.
- Last year's success made you more popular, attracted the attention of rivals and the media. How much has this changed your daily routine and do you feel more responsible?
- You could say that yes, I feel that more is expected of me. And, of course, there is more responsibility than in the previous championship. I think it is natural. But I can't say that it is somehow pressuring or hindering. On the contrary, it is an additional motivation to become even better.
- Who in the team helps you the most in realizing your chances and with whom do you feel the best understanding on the field?
- Probably, the greatest mutual understanding we have with the three in the center - with Max Zaderaka and Araujo. We are constantly together in the game, we suggest to each other about movements and openings. I especially want to note the connection with Mendoza - I play on the left, closer to his flank. The statistics confirm this: he assisted me on 2-4 goals, and I also gave him twice. We have a really good understanding on the field.
