Yurii Vernydub: For boys, this is a big school. They saw what to strive for

The head coach of Kryvyi Rih "Kryvbas" Yury Vernydub commented on the game at a press conference after the second match of the 2024\25 Conference League playoffs against Spanish "Betis" - 0:3.

- I congratulate "Betis" on the victory and the exit to the group stage of the League of Conferences. A very powerful and good team, it has a lot of fast football players. Although, if we take the game as a whole, we did not concede anything to the opponent in the first 40 minutes. They conceded the first goal, after which they crumbled a little.

Then they missed the second and third goals in a few minutes. It was a blow for us. Talked with the team in the locker room, made some substitutions. The second half was played 0:0, the first half was lost 0:3. Therefore, I do not want to comment much.

- Did "Kryvbas" gain experience in these matches against "Betis"?

- This is a big school for our boys. They saw the level to which they should strive. This is cool football. Pleasant atmosphere: a full stadium, many fans who passionately support the team, sing songs. It's incredible. I also want to thank the people of Seville for the banner hung in the stadium, the Ukrainian flag, in support of Ukraine.

I am very grateful to you for the support from me, from the team, from all Ukrainians. Spain supports Ukraine during these three difficult years. It is very nice. I want to say that a Ukrainian, Roman Zozulya, also played in your team, Betis. A good forward who spent a lot of time here. You also have a qualified coach, Manuel Pellegrini. I wish him all the best as well.

Unfortunately, only two teams will represent Ukraine at the group stage of the European Cups this year. These are Shakhtar and Dynamo. I want to wish them a successful performance in Europe. We will cheer for them throughout Ukraine.
