"Zorya" - "Kryvbas". Preview
Tomorrow, Kryvbas will face Zorya Luhansk in the Round of 16 of the 2026/2027 Ukrainian Cup. The match will take place in Kyiv. At this stage of the tournament, the teams will compete for a spot in the quarter-finals. For the "Red-and-Whites," this is an opportunity to continue their pursuit of the national cup.
Kryvbas began their cup campaign in the Round of 64, where they faced the amateur side Rokyta from the Poltava region in an away match. The "Red-and-Whites" secured a 3:0 victory. In the Round of 32, their opponents were another representative of the AAFU (Association of Amateur Football of Ukraine) - Olimpiya from Savyntsi. In this match, Kryvbas once again won away from home, this time with a score of 2:0. Thus, the team has confidently advanced through the previous two stages of the tournament.
Zorya also began their Ukrainian Cup campaign in the Round of 64 (1/32 finals). At this stage, the Luhansk side faced Skala 1911 Stryi from the Second League, securing a commanding 6:0 victory. In the Round of 32 (1/16 finals), their opponents were First League side Feniks-Mariupol, whom they defeated 2:0. Consequently, both clubs have reached the current stage without conceding a single goal in their previous cup matches.
The last official encounter between these opponents took place on August 9, 2026, during Matchday 2 of the 2026/2027 UPL season. That match was also held at the Valeriy Lobanovskyi Dynamo Stadium in Kyiv and ended in a comeback victory for Kryvbas, 3:1. Now, the teams meet in a cup clash, where the cost of a mistake is particularly high.
Unlike in the league, the outcome here will be decided by a single match, with the winner advancing in the pursuit of the trophy.
